The Slip is a very simple notebook cover. It's folded over and has 2 sides open to put a Field Notes and/or whatever else you can fit inside.

I've been testing it for a few weeks and I had to iterate in order to get the sizing right. The design is too simple to be unique, but that doesn't take away its usefulness. I didn't think I'd like it until I started carrying it. After a day I realized the potential. I remember that I went to Kohl's and got some Kohl's cash when checking out. The Kohl's cash and receipt fit nicely folded over right inside of my Slip. Usually I just stuff the receipt and whatever I get into a pocket. Sometime later I'd empty my pockets and have no idea where things were. Often times they just go through the washer and dryer and become shredded and mangled. It allowed me to keep the Kohl's cash from a grim fate and also remind me that I have it because I use my Field Notes frequently.
The Name
At Kraken's Key Trading Company we try to name our products with a nautical theme. The notebook slip/sheath is a protector for a Field Notes or pocket notebook. A very simple definition of a nautical slip is a designated, protected area at a dock for a boat to reside. That description is very similar to the design of the "The Slip", so the name is perfect.
Who is it for?
If you carry a pocket notebook or want to carry one and keep it protected, The Slip is for you. It's simple and does a great job at protecting a Field Notes or notebook of the same size and has room to shove other things in like receipts. It's also small enough to fit in pant pockets or even a small bag. Since it's made out of leather, it also looks stylish and refined. The patina over time will develop and make it unique to you.
When can I get one?
I'm planning on having a drop of some Slips by mid to late Spring! They will come with a random single Field Notes and that should also coincide with the drop of Field Notes. I'm updating the listing as well as figuring out the details on costs. Since each one is hand-cut and hand-stitched by me, they take a little time to make. Thanks for reading! I hope you'll take a look at the Slip once they release and give it a try. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, contact me at whichever method is easier for you.
