This minimalist vertical wallet is my first wallet design. It's functional and intended to be used as a cardholder that can hold up to 6 cards "safely". I have another post to clarify on "safely". Check it out here.
I've had mine for a few years now and as you can see it looks different than the brand new one in the header image (the one on the right). This particular one is made using Badalassi Pueblo leather. It has a "roughed up" feel when brand new and gets almost slick when a patina builds. When it comes to leather, a patina builds when you handle it, carry it in your pockets or anything that involves it touching a surface with some friction. Sunlight also can change the color as well. The oils from your hands will get into the leather and change the look and feel over time. Pueblo leather gets almost "glossy" when it patinas and just feels great. You can also get a good idea of the size of the wallet. It's minimalist and fairly small but I do use thicker leather, so it may be slightly bigger than you'd think.
The Name
So many people (myself included) get longitude and latitude mixed up. The name Longitude comes from the geographic coordinate that measures east-west position on Earth. You may think "Hey! Doesn't that mean it would be horizontal??". Nope! In layman's terms, to measure east-west, you have a bunch of vertical lines that go from the north to south pole making the Earth a big orange. Closer to the poles the lines are closer together and in the middle of Earth they are spread a part more. Those lines are how you measure east-west.
Since longitude is denoted by vertical paths, I thought that would be perfect for a vertical wallet. Navigation goes hand in hand with our nautical theme. When you think of sailing and pirates of the old, don't you think about an old map marked with an X?
Who's it for?
Hopefully everyone! It was intended for a minimalist and to just be a cardholder. It makes a good backup wallet to help keep the clutter from your main one too. I initially used it as my main wallet until I wanted to carry cash without folding it up. Now it's my backup wallet that holds debit and loyalty cards.
When can I get one?
Right now! When this blog post goes live there will be a few in stock. Our initial batch sold out and have been sold out for a little while now. Get them here!
